Three-hundred fifty-eight boxes include reports, correspondence, notes, newsclippings, legal papers, photographs, postcards, artifacts, scrapbooks, audio and video tapes, oral history interviews, event programs and invitations, press releases, guestbooks, and architectural building plans and drawings. Dates range from 1491-2002, bulk 1930-2002. Various university departments are represented, including but not limited to: President's Office, History Dept., Library, Theater and Fine Arts Depts., Education Dept., Special Events office, University Advancement, Athletics, Board of Regents, Alumni Affairs, Media Relations, and student organizations. Files of various Presidents, such as Evans and McCrocklin are included, as well as research files created by SWT History Prof. Ron Brown, and oral history interviews of and by former San Marcos mayor Emmie Craddock, among others, regarding SWT and San Marcos.

Craddock, Emmie, 1915-1998

Dr. Emmie Craddock (1915–1998) was born in Shreveport, Louisiana. She graduated as an honor student from Rice University (1936) and then earned both her MA (1949) and PhD (1954) in history at the University of Texas. Craddock served in the U.S. Navy from 1942–1946 and retired from the Naval Reserve as a lieutenant commander. Craddock taught in Southwest Texas State University's history department from 1950–1980. She founded and directed the university's General Honors Program from 1967–1980. ...
